There is a significant Indian presence in this Southern Pacific Area. There are six indigenous territories where the following groups reside: Borucas, Terrabas, Cabecares, Bribris and Guaymis.

From Pavones Eco Beach Resort, you can reach the waterfalls as you wish: hiking, horseback riding, with a 4x4, ... Within an hour of horseback riding, you'll be at your first waterfall, though by the surroundings you may feel miles away from civilization.

Pavones Eco Beach Resort - A hiking trail leads you to some whirpools ... Your guide will be happy to show you which ledges you can jump off of and which currents you can ride down over smaller rapids. Take your time and enjoy this area as there is no rush to start hiking again.

Pavones Eco Beach Resort - Put your swim suit on and enjoy the refreshing waters ...

After taking a swim in the waterfall, you will feel refreshed and ready to go to the next waterfall. Your bathing suit will do just fine as you climb from waterfall to waterfall, over boulders and rock walls, and swimming through the currents. As you look down into the gorge you can see the area in which you were swimming. With the large rock walls and lush forest growing all around, you will be impressed by Costa Rica's natural beauty.

Pavones Eco Beach Resort - Dare the 30 feet deep jump in clear waters ....

Next step: the Guaymis Indian reservation. As you climb higher and further into the reserve, you come across the next set of waterfalls. These cascades come from different rivers but join as the water falls just meters from each other.

You'll be amazed at all that you have seen and done and it hasn't even reached dinner time yet! Well, the best panoramic view overlooking the village of Pavones is where you can sit down and have a relaxing meal. This concludes the Waterfall Trail and if walking all day is not your favorite activity, horseback riding is also an excellent means of transportation. This trail is also the opportunity for bird watching and getting close to timid wildlife, and the people who lead often have eagle eyes peeled for interesting fauna and flora.
